Entry #5 : Food,Inc

I watched the movie "Food, Inc." in class and I really learnt a lot about food and animal production

in America. Many people in America have no idea where their food comes from, and most people do

not care to know the source of their food they eat. Corn farmers in America are providing for the

demand and it is due to the fact that corn is a commodity crop that is heavily subsidized. Corn is less

expensive and it is easy to store. Most processed foods have some sort of arrangement of corn bi-

products. In the movie, corn is scientifically created to be fed to cows, who by nature or evolution

eats grass. Causing them to have multiple health issues and increasing the need for antibiotics. It

appears cheaper and more convenient for people to eat fast food and highly processed food. Ground

beef is being washed with ammonia to prevent E. Coli outbreaks. Chickens are being designed to

produce bigger breasts for high demands and also chickens are being design to grow twice as the

normal size of full grown chicken. After watching the movie, I strongly believe there should be a

change in our system of food and animal production.

  1. Bernard--You have some good points here, but you still need to analyze more to provide more support. Missing entry #6.
